GREAT BASIN CHILDRENS ADVOCACY CENTER

GBCAC is woven together by local agencies and professionals. The team is composed of child protection workers, law enforcement officers, medical providers, prosecutors, victim advocates, mental health providers, and GBCAC volunteers. Together they provide a coordinated response by trained professionals to minimize the trauma victims’ experience. The team focuses their efforts to ensure that the child is safe and that his or her needs are met. The forensic interview is the cornerstone of the process. The forensic interview is child-friendly, supportive, and designed to reduce the number of times a child is interviewed about abuse.
GBCAC utilizes a joint investigative approach where information can flow seamlessly amongst the professionals who serve the victims. GBCAC volunteers assist families by helping them understand the system and connecting them to needed resources and services. In many ways, GBCAC is like a quilt, bringing together individual pieces to form a source of comfort for victims and the families from beginning to end.
